Mary Ann Hartung Voigt was the youngest of 3 children born to a first generation immigrant family that originated in Hungary. Her mother was widely known as a wonderful cook. Of course, Hungarian history for food is well known. Hungarian cuisine is ingenious, flexible, imaginative, and full of flavor. Hungarians are known for their love of life, love and food...perhaps in reverse order!

Even as a young child, Mary Ann took a special interest in her mother's creative cooking. There never seemed to be a recipe - just a dash of this and a pinch of that. Soups, a specialty at Dockside Deli, were (and are, today) nearly always a bit different. No one knows the precise amounts, but it is always a creative and delicious combination.
